Herzog Hospital was on emergency alert status, ready to receive patients evacuated from other hospitals and nursing homes in the Jerusalem area impacted by the fires last week. We immediately readied our underground emergency facility with 100 beds to receive patients.

We also activated our underground dialysis unit. And because Herzog maintains the largest Children’s Chronic Respiratory Care Department in Israel, the Ministry of Health requested that we prepare 20 beds to receive children requiring full respiratory support from other hospitals and nursing homes.

To protect our infrastructure, industrial-scale water sprinkler systems were tested and readied to defend against potential fire threats.

Herzog’s new hospital buildings, designed with advanced emergency-resilient infrastructure, meets the most rigourous safety standards. These facilities provide comprehensive protection – not only from fire and smoke, but also in the event of chemical warfare. Thankfully, these emergency measures did not need to be utilized.

Throughout the crisis, Herzog staff remained fully mobilized—ready to deliver uninterrupted, expert care under any circumstances.

As Herzog Hospital has done since its establishment 130 years ago, we continue to provide the most comprehensive health care possible to the residents of Greater Jerusalem and throughout Israel.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Israel’s emergency responders who worked tirelessly to protect our communities and our land.
